Zelensky: Strive to ensure that the Russian-Ukrainian conflict will end by diplomatic means next year.

On November 16th, local time, Ukrainian President Zelensky said in an interview with Ukrainian media that Ukraine must make every effort to end the conflict by diplomatic means next year. Negotiations with Russia are possible only if Ukraine does not face Russia alone and Ukraine has a strong position.

Zelensky said that the United States can act as a mediator, but it must maintain its position of supporting Ukraine. Although people close to US President-elect Trump have put forward various peace plans, the Ukrainian authorities will only discuss specific issues with Trump himself.

Zelensky also said that Russian armed forces are assembling for a joint attack on Ukraine. Ukraine has responded to this and strengthened its air defense system.

In addition, Zelensky said that the situation in eastern Ukraine is very difficult.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Scholz that Russia has never refused and has always been open to the resumption of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations. The possible agreement should take into account Russia’s security interests, proceed from the new territorial reality, and the most important thing is to solve the root causes of the conflict.
