On duty, they patrol, divert traffic and help citizens. They ride motorcycles in the corners of the city to ensure the normal operation of urban traffic and social order.
This iron riding team is very special, consisting of traffic police and patrol police. It is an important part of Pengzhou Public Security Bureau’s new model of street patrol and control. In order to further standardize the urban road traffic order and improve the level of urban management, since October 2021, Pengzhou police have implemented a new measure of "integration of traffic and patrol" in order to maximize police effectiveness.

"Combination of patrol and communication" means combining the work of traffic police and patrol, emphasizing the integration of order maintenance and public security patrol. Pengzhou Public Security divides important road sections such as roads in the central city and roads around the campus into 12 grid patrol areas, and implements mixed patrol control. Patrol officers assist the traffic police to maintain order and persuade vehicles parked along the street to leave as soon as possible to ensure smooth and orderly roads. During the Pingfeng period, the traffic police assisted the patrol officers to carry out public security patrols, and enhanced the rate of seeing police and managing affairs on the street.
Liu Zengzhi is an auxiliary police officer of the patrol police (riot brigade) of Pengzhou Public Security Bureau. He has worked in the municipal administrative center for more than five years. Since last year, Pengzhou Public Security Bureau has implemented the working mechanism of "communication and patrol in one", and he has added several job responsibilities.
At present, Liu Zengzhi’s main job is not only to patrol on duty and deal with emergencies, but also to divert traffic in the management area in the morning and evening rush hours, to persuade vehicles to park in disorder, and to urge road vehicles to drive according to regulations. Liu Zengzhi said that the administrative center square is close to the east-west main road in Pengzhou and the business district, with a large flow of people and vehicles. In the past, there was often a problem of congestion caused by the disorderly parking of civilian vehicles. After the integration of transportation and patrol, the situation was much better under the persuasion of colleagues.
Xiao Yong is a member of Tieqi Group, the service squadron of the traffic police brigade of Pengzhou Public Security Bureau. In his view, "the unity of communication and patrol" allows the two police types to cooperate with each other and get better results with the same energy.
According to a person in charge of Pengzhou Traffic Police Brigade, according to the previous requirements, a team of traffic police and patrol officers could only maintain traffic order and patrol around once an hour. After the two were "mixed", they could complete two patrols in the same time, which greatly improved the rate of seeing police and managing affairs on the street.
New mechanism

The relevant person in charge of Pengzhou Public Security Bureau introduced that the integration of the functions of "communication and patrol" can effectively reduce the overlapping work and the repeated delivery of police force and maximize the effectiveness of policing. Luo Hao, a traffic policeman working in the old town of Pengzhou, was deeply touched by this. "During the holidays, due to too many vehicles on the road, the traffic police have limited manpower, and it is much more convenient to have patrol officers to maintain traffic together."
Chen Xiaowei, the patrolman who worked with him, recalled a little thing. Not long ago, a pedestrian was knocked down by a vehicle on the zebra crossing in their management area. The patrolman just saw it, maintained the scene at the first time, and informed the joint patrol traffic police to arrive at the scene immediately, and the accident was quickly handled. "In the hearts of citizens, if something goes wrong, the police will be at ease the first time."
In addition, in January this year, Pengzhou police received an alarm for help, saying that an old man suddenly fell into a coma and was in critical condition. After receiving the transfer from the command center, the traffic police fighters immediately cooperated with the patrol fighters. After receiving the police, the traffic police fighters immediately guided and cleared the way, and the patrol fighters were responsible for traffic guidance along the way. In the end, it took 17 minutes to get to the hospital in just 8 minutes, and the old man was finally out of danger.
